Chris Barnes claims Clash title

Consider the title defended. Chris Barnes of Double Oak, Texas, picked up where his wife, Lynda, left off last year as he claimed the title at Bowling's Clash of Champions, a United States Bowling Congress event.

Barnes, who earned his way into the Clash by being the 2007-08 Professional Bowlers Association Player of the Year, defeated collegiate bowler Rebekah Diers of Kingston, N.Y., in the man versus woman title match 257-207 on April 30 at the Reno Events Center.

A crowd of nearly 1,500 fans watched the special made-for-television event that showcased 16 champions of various events competing for a total prize pool of $100,000.

Watch the post-game interview, courtesy of bowlTV, and read more about Barnes' road to the title.

Congratulations to Todd Muschall of Council Bluffs, Iowa, who correctly filled out his Clash Bracket on bowl.com to take home the $5,000 first-place prize and title of Clash Bracket Challenge Champion. Thank you to everyone who entered!

Johnson captures Queens title

Liz Johnson of Cheektowaga, N.Y., captured the 2009 United States Bowling Congress Queens title on April 29.

Johnson defeated 2007 Queens champion Kelly Kulick of Union, N.J., 247-204, to earn the title before a crowd of nearly 1,500 at the Reno Events Center. The victory earned her $30,000 and a place among bowling's biggest names as Queens champion.

Did you miss any of the Queens tournament action? BowlTV was live at the National Bowling Stadium and Reno Events Center throughout the week. Visit the USBC Queens home page to check out all the video updates from the tournament week, including interviews with Clara Guerrero, Michelle Feldman, Lynda Barnes and more.

Record scores piling up at 2009 USBC Open Championships

Ron Vokes of Racine, Wis., went into the 2009 USBC Open Championships just hoping to get close to the score that fellow Wisconsin bowler Lennie Boresch posted earlier in the tournament. Vokes didn't just get close, he passed his friend by nearly 100 pins to take the Regular All-Events lead and set a new tournament record of 2,321 pins. Vokes turned in series of 857, 767 and 697 to claim the top spot. His 30 consecutive strikes in singles competition is also a tournament record.

Video highlights of Vokes' record-breaking tournament can be found on bowl.com. Click here to watch!

Construction projects moving forward at International Bowling Campus

While business as usual happens daily in the offices of the United States Bowling Congress, Bowling Proprietors' Association of America and other organizations, at opposite ends of the International Bowling Campus in Arlington, Texas, construction crews are hard at work.

On the ground floor of the north side of 621 Six Flags Drive, work on the new International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame is underway. Already complete are two replica manual pinsetter lanes that will also serve as the theatre.

On the south part of the campus, plenty of dirt has been moved for the International Training and Research Center. The site has been cleared and graded with water injection, drilling and pouring of piers for the structural slab under the lanes coming next. After that will come the footings for the foundation. Simultaneous to that work will be concrete work on the dock and the front entrance as well as some landscaping.
